Last Rites Held For Charles Frank Medin
The funeral of Charles W. Medin was held at the Methodist Episcopal Church at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, instead of Friday afternoon, as was announced in last week's Tribune. On account of snow blockages the body did not get here until about midnight Friday night, and the relatives arrived the next morning.
The funeral discourse was delivered by Rev. Harold W. Wagar, the pastor of the church, and burial was in the cemetery by the side of his parents.
Charles Frank Medin was born at St. Ansgar, Iowa, December 15th, 1870, and was the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Malcom Medin.
He died at Strool, Perkins County, South Dakota, January 10th.
When a child he was baptized in the Norwegian Lutheran faith but in his later years was a constant attendant and supporter of the Community Church at Strool.
Mr. Medin's early life was spent in Iowa where he grew to manhood. At the age of 23 he was united in marriage to Ella Mary Johnson at Kensett, Iowa. To this union one child, a son, Lloyd C., was born.
The family resided at Kensett for a short time and then came to Dell Rapids. In 1908 he filed on a homestead near Strool and moved to that place where the family endured the hardships of pioneer life. In 1912, he moved to Grant County, S.D. where he farmed until four years ago when the family moved back to their homestead near Strool and he lived there at the time the Angel of Death came to call him home.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Ella Mary Medin, his son, Lloyd C. Medin, three brothers, John T. Medin of Sioux Falls, M.V. of Tripp and Fred of Dell Rapids.
