SIOUX FALLS - Earlo D. Muhs, 72, of 903 W. 26th St., died from a heart attack Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Sioux Valley Hospital.

He was born Oct. 1, 1927, at Mt. Vernon, where he grew up and received his education. At the age of 17, he joined the Merchant Marines and served three years. In 1950, he made his home in Sioux Falls, where he worked on the farm of LeRoy Johnson.

He married Donna Cranston on Feb. 28, 1951, in Sioux Falls. He then began work for Midwest Outdoor Advertising. In 1959, he began his own painting business and operated it until a stroke in 1999 forced him to retire.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 628 and a member of Moose Lodge No. 503.

His survivors include his wife, Donna a daughter, Linda Kreykes of Sibley, Iowa two sons: Gary and Robert Muhs, both of Sioux Falls three granddaughters one great-grandson and a sister, Alice New of Mitchell.

Services begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home. There will be a private family burial Tuesday at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, with military rites by V.F.W. Post 628.

Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m.
