Darrell "DD" Donaldson

Darrell "DD" Donaldson, 53, was born on Aug. 9, 1951, in Sioux Falls, the son of Everett and Lorita (Hughes) Donaldson. Darrell lived on Riverside until 1965 when his family moved to Dell Rapids. He graduated from Dell Rapids High School in 1970. Following graduation, Darrell served in the U.S. Army with the 1st Division at Ft. Riley, Kan., where he, with his unit, made several excursions into Europe during his service time.
Darrell passed away peacefully at Avera McKennan Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Everett and Susie Donaldson of Dell Rapids; his son, Jerad of Sioux Falls; his daughter, LaRissa Donaldson of Sioux Falls; his siblings, Ken (Sue) Donaldson of Sioux Falls, Rita (Doug) VanDaalen of Mandan, N. Dak., Bill Donaldson of Dell Rapids and Tammy (Dave) Christensen of Sioux Falls; his two granddaughters, Shelby of Sioux Falls and Lexi of Black Mountain, N.C.; his five nieces, three nephews, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Darrell was preceded in death by his mother, Lorita and his grandparents, Olynn and Addie Hughes and Bill and Lucy Donaldson.
Darrell's funeral service was held on Dec. 9, 2004, in the Chapel at Kahler Funeral Home, Dell Rapids. Interment followed at the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
