Katie Christine Boterman was born at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Oct. 19, 1998, the daughter of Bill and Michelle (Daggett) Boterman. She lived in Tea and later moved to rural Marion. Katie was a member of the second grade class at Hurley Elementary School. She enjoyed school, cheerleading and loved all of her classmates. She was a cowgirl at heart and enjoyed riding horse. She loved all animals, including frogs and snakes. She was learning how to cook and bake and already could bake a cake by reading the instructions. She was preceded in death by grandparents: Louis Daggett and Elmore and Tena Poppens. Grateful for having shared her life are her father, Bill Boterman of Chancellor; her mother, Michelle Daggett of Marion; two sisters: Kylie and MacKenzie; her grandparents: Oliver and Lorna Boterman and Larry and Sonja Daggett, all of Tea; her great-grandmother: Shirley Daggett of Tea; plus her dearly loved aunts, uncles and cousins.
