Oscar M. Moen, 96, of Dell Rapids passed away Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.

Oscar M. Moen was born November 11, 1910 on a farm southwest of Dell Rapids to parents Ludvig and Anna (Skulburstad) Moen. He attended and graduated from a country school near Dell Rapids.

Following his education, he worked as a farm hand until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942. He served his country over three years in the Pacific Theater of Operations before his Honorable Discharge in 1945.

After his military service, he returned to Dell Rapids doing farm work and working for a machine company. He then was employed as a mechanic for four years before starting an eighteen year career with the Dell Rapids Public School System. Following his retirement, he worked road construction for three years and as a handyman for some years.

Grateful for having shared his life are his sister, Ruth Wold, Dell Rapids and many other relatives and friends.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn and Felix; and two sisters, Lillian Skatvold and Dollie Hanson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at Minnehaha Funeral Home Chapel in Dell Rapids. Burial will be in the Dell Rapids Cemetery.
