Janice Muriel Neshiem was born in Mankato, Minnesota to Otto and Muriel Neshiem on January 16, 1934. She lived in Sioux Falls, attending Augustana College, graduating in 1953. She taught in Milroy, Minnesota and Fort Belvoir, Virginia before moving to St. Paul, Minnesota where she taught for 32 years before retiring in 1985. She was very involved with her church, St. Timothy’s Lutheran as well as the St. Paul Retired Teachers Association. In 2000, she moved to Heritage House Assisted living until 2004 when she moved to Colorado to be closer to family. She enjoyed her brother Vaughn’s family and her niece, Sarah Schulz and children. As her health declined, she was moved to the Life Care Center where she passed away on March 6, 2007.
She is survived by her brother, Vaughn & Marian Neshiem of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister-in-law, Shirley Neshiem of Brookings, SD; 4 nieces, 2 nephews; and 9 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dean.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, March 12, 2007 at Miller Funeral Home, Main Avenue location. Interment will be in Hills of Rest Memorial Park. The family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to any charity, or to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
