David M. Waldner
December 23, 1929 - December 26, 2005
David M. Waldner the son of Michael and Katherina (Wollman) Waldner was born in Benard, Manitoba on December 23, 1929. At a young age David’s family moved to the Pearl Creek Colony in South Dakota.
On May 3, 1954 he entered into active duty serving his country in the United States Air Force. David was honorably discharged on December 6, 1957.
David was united in marriage to Kathrina Hofer on July 19, 1959. David worked as a carpenter at the Pearl Creek Colony for 30 years. One of David’s great loves was being a salesman. While in the colony he loved to take a pickup load of produce and peddle it in nearby towns and sneak in a picture show when he was done.
In 1989 they moved to Sioux Falls, David worked at Starmark for eight years before he retired due to his health. David was a member of Cornerstone Church.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Kathrina; children, Verna (Bud) Van Bockern, and their children, Bryanna and Austin, David Waldner and his children, Tyrone, Kurtis, Jeffrey and Tiffany, Joseph (Michelle) Waldner, and their children, Amanda, and Joshua, Michael (Connie) Waldner, and their children, Branden, Rachel, Abby, and Seth, all of Sioux Falls; brothers, Peter Waldner, George Waldner, Hardy Waldner; sisters, Katherina Waldner, Rachel Wollman, Elizabeth Waldner, Sarah Stahl, Suzanna Wipf, Maria Gross, Anna Wipf; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Three daughters, Claudia Waldner, Kathy Waldner, Rachel Waldner; his parents, and three brothers, Mike Waldner, Paul Waldner, Jake Waldner, preceded David in death. Funeral service 1:00 pm Thursday at Cornerstone Church, 900 East 41st Street, Sioux Falls.
Visitation begins at 7:00 pm Wednesday with the family present from 7 to 9 pm at Cornerstone Church.
