Stephen Haight
January 25, 1945 - March 8, 2018
Sioux Falls- Stephen Haight, 73, died Thursday, March 8, 2018. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Miller Funeral Home Southside Chapel at 7400 S. Minnesota Ave. The family will be present to greet friends for visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 11 at the Miller Funeral Home Southside Chapel.
Stephen Edgar Haight, son of Edgar and Lavina (Knapp) Haight was born January 25, 1945, in Wheaton, MN. He graduated from high school in Moorhead, MN in 1963. Following his graduation, Stephen enlisted in the United States Navy. He served honorably and was later discharged. After his discharge from the Navy he married the love of his life, Bobbi Welhaf in Crystal, MN. The couple lived in Maple Grove, MN before moving to Sioux Falls in 1974.
Over the years Stephen was a successful land developer throughout the Midwest. Stephen owned and operated Haight Construction and Hayloft Property Management. He took great pride in helping many individuals in the business community get their start and run successful businesses.
One of Stephen’s biggest passions was hunting. He loved to spend time bringing family and friends together for a hunt. He also owned and operated a hotel and several hunting camps in Mexico, where he enjoyed many hunting trips. Although he loved to hunt, Stephen’s biggest passion of all was his family. He was a loving husband of over 50 years, a wonderful father and a caring grandfather.
Grateful for having shared his life are Stephen’s wife Bobbi, Brandon, SD; children, Robert (Emma) Haight, Brandon, SD; Trish Haight, Los Angeles, CA; and Pamela (Todd) Nordmeyer, Brandon, SD; five grandchildren, Matthew (Rayna) Haight, Sioux Falls, SD; Kaila (Zack) Kamrass, Ft. Myers, FL; Melissa Haight, Sioux Falls; SD, Luke Nordmeyer, Brandon, SD; and Briton Nordmeyer, Brandon, SD; and siblings, Marcia (Vern) Thompson, Plymouth, MN; Dave (Joan) Haight, Anoka, MN; and Nancy (Mike) Johnson, Breckenridge, MN. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Lavina Haight.
