William "Tony" Hockenberry Jr.
January 28, 1947 - August 25, 2020
William "Tony" Hockenberry Jr., 73, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Ava's House Hospice in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2020, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls.
William “Tony” Hockenberry was born son of William and Elizabeth (Yanchocik) Hockenberry on January 28th, 1947, in Altoona, PA. He was raised and educated in nearby Blandburg, PA. He graduated May 26th 1964 from Reade Township High School in Mountaindale, PA. The family moved to South Dakota in 1964. He worked at Sioux Steel from June 10, 1964 to June 12, 2001. He served in the United States Army from March 3, 1966 until receiving his Honorable Discharge on February 11, 1968. He continued his dedication and service to our country serving in the Air National Guard from July 21, 1982 until earning retirement on February 24, 2006.
Tony was united in marriage to Loxie Buchholz on December 31, 1993. They have been longtime members of Hope Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, tending to his flower garden, and bird watching.
Survived by wife, Loxie (Johnson) Hockenberry of Sioux Falls; son, Brian Hockenberry of Sioux Falls; daughter, Tia Hockenberry of Virginia; (Brian’s children) Peyton Hockenberry, Emma Hockenberry, Hanna Hockenberry, Olivia Hockenberry; step-daughter, Stephanie (Gordon) Vizecky of Richfield, MN; (Steph’s children) Zachary Vizecky and Gage Vizecky; and brother, John Hockenberry of Sioux Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Elizabeth Hockenberry; and brother, Alan Robert Hockenberry.
