Arlin H. Mueller
May 11, 1934 - December 04, 2019

Arlin H. Mueller, 85 of Sioux Falls, died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, December 4, 2019. He was born May 11, 1934 the son of Henry and Minnie (Buskohl) Mueller. He graduated from Harrisburg High School, and served in the United States Army. Arlin was united in marriage to Charlotte Olson on January 10, 1957 in Sherman, SD.

Arlin was born to Henry and Minnie Mueller and grew up on the family homestead. He attended a one room school house and graduated from Harrisburg High School. He served his country in the US Army and returned home to the family farm. Arlin met his soul mate, Charlotte, at a dance at the Arkota. They will have celebrated 63 years of marriage in January. They raised six successful children who also graduated from Harrisburg High School. They were blessed with 38 grand, great and great-great grandchildren. He will sadly miss the birth of his 39th great grandchild, Kario this month.

Arlin was a farmer for many years followed by his employment as a truck driver. His leadership was evident in his involvement in the NFO while farming and as a union steward for the teamsters. Arlin was an entrepreneur and developed and ran Mueller Pallets. This family business has received national recognition and it’s growth continues with the third generation ownership. The urn was handmade by Arlin’s son, Henry. The wood was milled from a tree at the family homestead.

He was an avid fisherman with his best friend, Charlotte. They enjoyed spending time on the river with friends and family. Arlin loved deep and helped many with his generosity. He taught love, compassion, faith and exhibited strength to his children. Arlin embodied selflessness. He would light up when a child entered a room and knew ice cream or “grandpa cookie” could lift any spirit. He will be missed and celebrated.

Grateful for having shared his life are: his wife, Charlotte; his children, Melinda (Carl) Johnson, Patricia (James) Guthmiller, Henry (Margie) Mueller, Carla (Rick) Wilson, Charlene (Scott) Hoy and Harlin (Heidi) Mueller; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, 3 step great-great grandchildren and a sister Arlene Kettwig.

A memorial service for Arlin will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 9, 2019 at Heritage Funeral home. The family will be present one hour prior to greet friends.
