Charles W. Sears
Final rites will be held at 2 pm. Wednesday at Benz Memorial Chapel for Charles W. Sears, 85, Valley Springs man who died Saturday at a local hospital.
Rev. James A Feay will officiate at the services. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Sears was a Spanish-American War Veteran. He joined the Marines in 1899 and served in the Boxed Rebellion.
He was born in West Union, Iowa, on Nov. 12, 1875. He moved to Chamberlain in 1881. He later lived at Kadoka. He married Josephine Ohr at Yankton on Dec. 2, 1912. He lived at Hamet, Calif., for five years before moving to Tyndall to farm. He farmed near Sioux Falls in 1939 and in 1941 moved to Valley Springs. Mrs. Sears died in 1945.
Survivors are 2 daughters, Mrs. Russell Barton, San Jose, California and Mrs. David A Finn, Sioux Falls, 5 sons, Dudley, Yankton; Ralph F., Sioux City, Paul, William and Charles Jr., all of Valley Springs; 10 grandchildren and a sisters, Mrs. Nell Bouge, Phoenix, Ariz.
A brother, Fred preceded Mrs. Sears in death.
