Sioux Falls- Kenneth "Ken" Boever, age 88, died on Friday, September 16, 2011, at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday, September 22, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Sioux Falls. Interment will follow at 1:30 PM Thursday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Dell Rapids, SD. Visitation begins at 1:00 PM Wednesday at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, with the family present to greet friends beginning at 6:00 PM. A Liturgical Wake Service will begin at 7:00 PM.
Kenneth Sylvester Boever, son of Michael and Barbara (Entringer) Boever, was born November, 18, 1922 at Dell Rapids, SD. Ken received his education in country schools in near Dell Rapids.
In 1944 Ken joined the war effort and honorably served in the US Navy until being discharged in 1946.
Ken was united in marriage with Arlene Tordoff on October 28, 1947 in Flandreau, SD. After their marriage the couple made their home in Egan, SD before moving to Sioux Falls in 1953.From this union the couple were blessed with eight children. In 1953 Ken began working for Egger Steel and retired as Shop Superintendent after 32 years in 1985.
Ken was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, VFW, American Legion, and the Moose Lodge.
Grateful for having shared his life are his four sons, David Boever, Townsend, MT, Larry Boever and his wife, Val, Palmer, AK, Kevin Boever and his wife, Gail, Sioux Falls, Kim Boever and his friend, Michelle Lommen, Sioux Falls; three daughters, Patty Tschetter and her husband, Dave, Baltimore, MD, Pam Johnson and her husband, Steve, Livingston, MT, Peggy Boever, Sioux Falls; ten grandchildren, Todd Baird and his wife, Michaela, Toby Baird and his wife, Kelly, Tonya Hayne and her husband, Matt, Matt Tschetter and his wife, Sarah, Jodi Hirschman and her husband, Bryce, Heather Benson and her husband, Josh, Ashley Johnson, Cassandra Johnson, Tera Perreault, and Kyla Perreault; eleven great-grandchildren, Jamison Baird, Sydney Baird, Riley Baird, McKenzie Hayne, Cole Hayne, Carson Tschetter, Owen Tschetter, Quinn Tschetter, Javon Hill, Jeremiah Hill and Brooklyn Benson; one brother, Harold Boever of Flandreau, SD;several sisiter and brother-in-laws, Sharon and Rick Battle, Bozeman, MT, Nadine Boever, Seattle, WA, Rosie Tordoff, Brookings, SD, Ordale Johnson, Ventura, CA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Arlene on August 5, 2006; his son, Steve Boever on August 5, 1999; and two brothers, Edmund and Vernon Boever.
