The mission of this project is to capture digital images of gravestones of our ancestors. As decades pass -- many stones are becoming harder, if not impossible, to read the inscriptions they originally contained.

By archiving the images, we can help save these important records and also assist researchers using this valuable resource.

THANK YOU to everyone that have helped make our very first summer such a huge success. We have surpassed 36,600 volunteer submissions from 48 of the 66 South Dakota counties.  A number of county historical sites have linked to us, and we have been written up in the print media at least three times, one of which was picked up and distributed by Associated Press around the mid-west.
  In 2010 we hope to at least double the number of listings, which are all contributed by volunteers.  As this is a 100% free, non-profit website, all the volunteers are very appreciated!
 If you have any interest in taking photos, or being a volunteer county coordinator, please contact us and we will get you started.  Lots of fresh air, and a great way to work off the winter stiffness.
