The mission of this project is to capture digital images of gravestones, we are not a grave registration site. As decades pass -- many stones are becoming harder, if not impossible, to read the inscriptions they originally contained.
By archiving the images of both old and new stones, we can help document these important records and also assist researchers using this valuable resource.

"Aisles of the Forgotten Graveyard"
Brad Kellogg, the administrator of southdakotagravestones is a historian, photographer, living history presenter and author. He has researched the stories buried beneath the sod of regional forgotten cemeteries by digging through newspaper archives, historical society material, centennial books, court records and above all, material from family memories. Most of these stories are around 100 years old, and are all but forgotten.
As D.R. Haskin, author of the "Hills of Mars" series writes, "I invite you to take a seat and let Brad Kellogg introduce you to some people who died many years ago. From the Aises of the Forgotten Graveyard they will tell you their compelling stories. For it is, "here they lay side by side, the violent deaths next to the natural causes, self-proclaimed society ladies next to their husband's mistress, war heroes and civilians, leaders and followers. They are all here together.....and they all talk".
