Founder of Weelborg Bros. dies in Dells

Louis Weelborg, 64, who formed Weelborg Bros. Construction Co., in Dell Rapids in 1939, died June 25 in the Dell Rapids community Hospital following a lengthy illness. Weelborg had been active in the company and was vice president at the time of his death.

Services were held Friday, June 28 in the First Baptist church, Dell rapids, with the Rev. Lester Norton and the Rev. Richard Reese in charge. Pallbearers were Ole Sater, William Cone, Jerry Crisp, Welford DeVaney, Mel Gottsch and Gary Penning. Mrs. Frank Greening was organist and Mrs. Tom Merry soloist. Burial took place in the Dell Rapids cemetery with Hermanson – Kahler Funeral Home in charge.

Louis Weelborg was born Aug. 28, 1909 in Edgerton, Minn., and moved with his parents to the Clark and Watertown area when he was a boy. He attended school in Clark, Castlewood and South Shore and moved to Dell Rapids in 1930.

After starting in road construction in 1935 he formed Weelborg Bros. Construction Co. in 1939, which included his brother John and Ralph.

He is survived by a sister Mrs. B. H. Halvorson, brothers John and Ralph all of Dell Rapids and brother, Thomas, Trent. His parents and a sister, Mrs. Ernest (Grace) Carlson preceded in him in death
