Ole A. Wangberg
(February 20, 1921 - April 26, 2015)

Ole Andreas Wangberg was born in Roseau, MN February 20, 1921 to Johannes Wangberg and Astrid (Myrseth) Wangberg and entered his heavenly home on April 26, 2015 at the age of 94. Ole attended country schools and graduated from Egan High School in 1939. He took bakery classes at the Flandreau Indian School, attended Augustana College until being drafted into the US Army in November 1942, honorably discharged in 1946, and served in the Army Reserve until 1949. Ole married Dorothy (Volkert) May in 1947. Dorothy passed away in 1979. Ole married Viola (Sorensen) Amdahl in 1980. Ole and Dorothy lived near Colman, in Whitewood, Trent and Egan. Ole and Vi lived in Egan after their marriage and wintered in Tucson, AZ from 1994 to 2002 when they became Arizona residents. Ole worked at numerous occupations ending his career with Jim Loiseau as a heavy equipment operator. He was a long standing member of the American Legion. He loved horses and used them on the farm. He also loved gardening, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Left to fondly remember Ole are his wife, Viola, stepsons, Bob (Barb) May and Dick (Sharlene) May, stepdaughter Ruth Brende, daughter Kathy (Dan) Brenden, daughters-in-law, Jan May, Brenda May and Joan Wangberg, stepsons, Ervin Amdahl Jr., Dennis (Cheryl) Amdahl, Neil (Tina) Amdahl and Paul (Stephanie) Amdahl. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren lovingly refer to him as “quite the Grandpa”. He is also survived by his brothers, Ludwig, John and Albert and his sister Margot Moller. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Dorothy, infant son “Baby Jim”, son Kenneth Wangberg, stepsons, Ray May and Martin May, son-in-law James Brende, grandson Bryan, his brothers, Martin, Pete and Harald, and sisters, Ida Wright, Helene Berven and Marie Mathison.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Messiah Lutheran Church, rural Flandreau with burial at Hillside Cemetery, Egan, SD.
