Ole J. Paulson Succumbs To Heart Attack May 29

Ole J. Paulson passed away at his home in Dell Rapids about 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning of last week May 29th. Mr. Paulson had been down town Wednesday afternoon and appeared in usual health. However he was stricken late that night with a heart ailment and succumbed within a few hours. He was 81 years, 11 months and 4 days.

Mr. Paulson was born June 25, 1870 at Stordaalen, Norway. At the age of 12 years in 1882 he came to the United States to the Baltic community where he lived for some time before moving to Dell Rapids. Later he moved to Sisseton S.D. and to North Dakota where he lived for three years before returning to Dell Rapids in 1909 which has been the family home ever since. Since returning to Dell Rapids he has been engaged as a stone-brick mason except for a period of 10 years when he served as a city chief of police.

He was married to Sigrid Floren November 30, 1895 and to this union was born three children, two of whom survive.

He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Inez Knutson and a son, Joseph Paulson, both of Sioux Falls; two grandchildren and a brother, Olaf Borstad of Atabaska, Canada. A daughter preceded him in death.

Mr. Paulson has been an active member of the local Lutheran church also the Brotherhood for many years. He was well known in the community and highly respected by everyone.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday May 31st from the Hermanson Chapel to the Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. Burial was made in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. The Rev. Ole M. Odland local pastor officiating. Hermanson Funeral Service in charge.
