Anna M. (Ann) Bowen
Anne M. (Ann) Bowen, 90, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 1994, at Prince of Peace Retirement Center in Sioux Falls.
Anna Keefer was born Oct. 3, 1903, at Dell Rapids, the daughter of Scott and Anna Keefer. She grew up in Dell Rapids and attended the Dell Rapids Schools.
She married Albert Bowen in 1921 at Dell Rapids. After their marriage, they resided in Dell Rapids. In 1939, they moved to a farm near Chester and lived there until 1949, when they returned to Dell Rapids. She worked in sales in the following retail stores: Wilson's Variety Store, Greenings Drug Store, Coast to Coast Stores and the Fashion Corner, retiring in 1987. She moved to the Prince of Peace Retirement Center in Sioux Falls in August 1988. Mr. Bowen died in 1970.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Dell Rapids, Altar Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son: Bill; one daughter: Bernadine Fiegen; and four brothers: Leonard, Harry, Dewey and Ted Keefer.
Survivors include her daughter: Mrs. Jim (Teresa) Boyum of Renner; a daughter-in-law; Phyllis Bowen of Sherman; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was held Saturday, Jan. 15, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. Father Ed Pierce was the officiant. Casketbearers were Bill Bowen, Billy Bowen, Jim Boyum, Tom Boyum, Mark Boyum and Dan Boyum. Kahler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
