Florian B. Lickteig was born on May 19, 1924 in Dell Rapids, SD the son of John and Mary (Mairose) Lickteig. He grew up in Dell Rapids and attended St. Mary High School. Florian entered the U. S. Army in 1943. He served in Europe during WWII. He returned to Dell Rapids in November of 1945. He worked for the Coop Grain Company.

On June 14, 1954 he married Arliss Westwick at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. The couple moved to Rapid City, returning to Dell Rapids in 1955. Florian worked for the Coop Elevator and then for Dual Manufacturing until his retirement in 1986.

Florian enjoyed his family, gardening, hunting, fishing and sports. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports.

Florian died on Monday, April 16, 2007 at Terrace Manor Nursing Home in Dell Rapids. He was 82 and preceded in death by his daughter, Jeannine, his parents and two brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Arliss of Dell Rapids; his sons, Craig (Sandy) of Sioux Falls, Arlen "Moe" (Grace) of Dell Rapids, Stuart of San Angelo, TX and Jon (Mary) of Dell Rapids; his grandchildren, Nathan (Megan), Megan, Jennifer, Stacey, Dustin, Whitney, Nick and Trevor; his great grandchildren, Spencer and Tanner; his brother, Julius (Helen) of Riddle, OR; his sister, Mildred Fossum of Canton; and his many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 19, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids, SD. Interment will be in the St. Mary Cemetery.

Visitation at Kahler Funeral Home.
