John W. Locke, 67, of Brandon formerly of Sioux Falls and Garretson died Monday, May 5, 2008 at the Helping Hands Assisted Living in Brandon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 8, 2008 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Garretson. Burial will be in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 7, 2008 with a Wake Service at 7:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

John William Locke was born May 6, 1940 in Garretson to parents Vincent and Helen (Beck) Locke. He grew up in Garretson and attended Garretson Grade School. He continued to live with his parents until the death of his dad. He then moved to Sioux Falls were he was employed at Good Will Industries. In 2002 he moved to Brandon. While living in Sioux Falls he received a citation from the Mayor of Sioux Falls for saving the life of a little girl. He enjoyed fishing with his cousin Tim Locke and his brother and his wife. He was an active member of AA for 26 years.

Grateful for having shared his life are his brother and sister in law, Tom and Carole Locke, Kansas City, Missouri; a nephew, Kelly Locke and his children, Ethan, and triplet Benjamin, William and Alyssa; a special cousin, Tim Locke and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
