Donna R. Bennett was born February 11, 1925 in Moody County to Les and Ruth (Babcock) Bennett and step-mother Viola Bairey. She graduated from Egan High School in 1943 and Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. Donna married Francis Malone on May 8, 1948 in Flandreau, SD. The couple lived in Marshall, MN for 25 years. Donna retired to Brandon, SD in 1991.
Over the years Donna worked as a Registered Nurse in Sioux Falls, Flandreau and Marshall, MN hospitals. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and also volunteered at Sioux Valley Hospital. Donna enjoyed quilting and taking bus trips all over the United States with friends. Above all she loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, a wonderful grandmother, great-grandmother, and a dear friend to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, John (Debbie) Malone, Shakopee, MN, Mike (Lyn) Malone, Eagan, MN, Janelle (Brad) VanLeur, Brandon, SD, and Frank (Cathy) Malone, Champlin, MN; grandchildren, Matthew (Camie) Malone, Jordan, MN, Melissa (Jeff) Isaacson, Jordan, MN, Adam and Kelli Malone, both of Eagan, MN, Megan (Daniel) Witte, Dell Rapids, SD, Joe (Chelsea) VanLeur, Sioux Falls, SD, Jack VanLeur, Brandon, SD, and Kayla and Max Malone, both of Champlin, MN; great-grandchildren, Michaela Ann Witte, William Wayne VanLeur, Logan John Malone, Addeline Ruth Witte and Claire Rosalia Witte.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; brothers, Bert, Bob, Harley, and Bill; and sister Evelyn.
