DEATH OF MRS. EDGAR A. HORNBY
Mrs. Edgar A. Hornby Passed Away at Her Home in Flandreau Sunday Morning

Shocked indeed were the citizens of Flandreau and Moody county Sunday when word came out from the home of County Auditor Hornby that Mrs. Hornby has passed away at three o'clock that morning. Although it was generally known that Mrs. Hornby had been suffering from an attack of appendicitis for about a week, she was reported as gaining and Saturday morning the doctor pronounced her out of danger, but about three o'clock that afternoon she was taken suddenly worse and at three o'clock Sunday morning, weary, worn out, racked and torn by intense pain the frail body gave up the struggle and liberated the spirit that it had tried so hard to retain.

Maud Evelyn Buck was born in Moody county, not far from Egan, on the 1st day of August 1880; a few years later she, with her parents, moved to Egan, where she attended the schools of that place and grew up into womanhood, and on April 13, 1908, she was united in marriage to Edgar A. Hornby of the same place.

It is with an aching hear, dear readers, that the editor of this paper pens these words in memory of a sister, with whom we shared our joys and sorrows in childhood. She was of a kind, loving disposition, believing that it is "more blessed to give than to receive," always careful of the comfort and welfare of others and deeming no sacrifice too great for those whom she loved. Knowing these qualities it is not surprising that friends gathered around her by the score and that they ask why one so good should at the very beginning of life be stricken. However, an all-wise Providence has seen fit to call her to that home from which no traveler ever returns, and where we are told all is happiness and that there will be no more partings, no more pains, no more tears and where there is no need of a sun, for the radiance of a Saviour's love makes an eternal day.

Maud E. Buck-Hornby leaves to mourn her untimely demise, a husband, father and mother, Mrs. and Mrs. C.J. Buck, four brothers, W. P., Louis J., Lee E., and Leslie Buck, a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Interment was made in the Egan cemetery beside the remains of her sister, Mertie, who preceded her only four months. Short prayer services were held at the home in Flandreau after which the remains were taken to the opera house at Egan where the services proper were conducted by Rev. A.W. Thurston of the M.E. church of Flandreau, assisted by Rev. Chas. R. McLaird of the Baptist church of Egan. Beautiful decorations of flowers in wreaths, banks and pillows surrounded the casket and lined the grave. Thus with the coming of the flowers ad at the springtime of life, was laid forever at rest all that remained of the one we held so dear in life.

CARD OF THANKS
We desire to extend our most heartfelt thanks to the many neighbors and friends who assisted so greatly in alleviating much of our sorrow by their kind deeds and words of sympathy.
