John SKOW

Gayville Community Cemetery
Yankton County,
South Dakota

Skow was his last name. John J. Skow changed his name from Schow prior to or during WWII.

John Jepsen Skow (formerly Schow or Schov) was my grandfather. He was the eldest son of John Soren Schow (b. June 11, 1848 in Denmark) and Mary Neilson (m. April 6, 1883) of Nance County, Nebraska.

John J. Skow had a farm just north of Gayville, SD. and his wife Anina Anderson had three sons, Virgil, Harold and Duane M. Virgil continued to farm at the Gayville homstead. Harold served in the US Navy during WWII and has lived and worked in Portland, OR, and Duane M. worked for the USDA in a variety of locations ultimately settling in the Des Moines, IA area.
