Henry E. Haman, 89, of Egan, SD, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Riverview Healthcare Community, Flandreau, SD. Henry was born August 21, 1928 at Berwick, ND, to Lawrence and Clara (Hoegle) Haman. He received his education in Berwick. He entered the Army Air Corps in the 11th Airborne as a paratrooper during WWII and the occupation of Japan. Henry attended the University of ND and then worked for Bankers Life and Casualty along with Estate Tax Planning. Henry married Virginia Naggatz on January 19, 1957 in Minneapolis. They moved to Sioux Falls where he continued Estate Tax Planning until 1969 when they moved to Egan, SD to a farm southeast of Egan where they have continued to live. Henry was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau, Egan American Legion and the VFW. He was an avid reader, a former pilot, a boxer in college, a “jack of all trades” and loved to garden.

Henry is survived by his wife Virginia; four children, Carrie (Steve) Langan, Sioux Falls; Maggie Smith, Colton; Mary (Eric) Larson, Hudson, WI; John (Tami) Haman, Chester; 10 grandchildren, Jesselyn, Elizabeth, Troy, Matthew, Marcus, Lacey, Alexis, Chase, Cody and Chas; four great-grandchildren, Kaden, Eli, Reed, Athena; five siblings, Anna, Andrew, Emily, Marian and Helen. Henry was preceded in death by an infant son Michael, son Steve, grandsons, Drew and Bryan, parents, two sisters, Christine and Stephanie and one brother Philip.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with a 7:00 p.m. scripture service.
