Sissel Berdal passed away on June 24, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Rehabilitation Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Sissel Botnen was born July 4, 1923 in Voss, Norway.
Sissel spent her youth in Norway and endured the World War II occupation of Norway by the Nazi’s. She emigrated to the United States and married Harold Berdal on September 3, 1960.
They made their home in the rural Garretson area, the Chicago area, returning to rural Garretson in 1978. Sissel enjoyed living in the Friendship Village in Dell Rapids the last 2 ½ years.
Sissel was preceded in death by two infant children, Harold, two sisters and her parents. Sissel will be remembered for her twinkling blue eyes, quick wit, smile, great Norwegian cooking and care for people.
A memorial service will be held at a future date.
