BLUM, JACOB, is a native of Wurtemberg, Germany, and was born October 26, 1826. He received his education in the public schools, and when sixteen years of age he was employed by an uncle to travel for him in the hide and wool business. At the age of twenty-one years he emigrated with his wife to the United States, and located in New Jersey. From that time on he has been engaged in the hide and wool business in Philadelphia, then Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and Nebraska City, Nebraska, from which place he came to Sioux Falls on the 26th day of August, 1882, where he has since resided. He and his good wife celebrated their Golden wedding on the 10th day of June, 1896. Mr. Blum is a good business man, and a respected citizen and notwithstanding his seventy-three years, is seen daily at his place of business, actively engaged in managing his affairs.
