On Friday, June 25, 2021, Jeffrey James Cronk, beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 69 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota from a long battle with cancer.

Jeff was born on August, 21st, 1951, in Sioux Falls to James and Millie (Ratigan) Cronk. He had one older sister, Sherry. Jeff grew up on the North side of Sioux Falls and was a graduate of O’Gorman High School in 1969. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy for four years and was deployed all over the world, specifically in Guam. After being honorably discharged in 1972, Jeff followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Sioux Falls Fire Department. He was well known as the cook of the fire house and often served up incredible meals. Jeff proudly served on the fire department for 29 years and retired as a Lieutenant in 2003.

On December 2, 1972, Jeff married the love of his life, Linda Roling. They welcomed three beautiful children over the next ten years. They were truly the light of his life.

Jeff was deeply passionate about sprint car racing and worked for Huset’s Speedway for over 30 years as an emergency and track official. He absolutely LOVED to play golf and was often found at Brandon golf course in his free time playing with his father and children. Jeff also enjoyed the sport of hunting and often brought home a lot game for the family. Later in his life, he enjoyed travelling and spending as much time with his treasured grandchildren as possible. Jeff's family loved him dearly and will miss his smile, humor, and beautiful presence every day.

Jeff is preceded in death by his father, James, mother, Millie and sister, Sherry. He is survived by his wife, Linda, and children, Jason, Chad, and Julie Hoit (Mike), and grandchildren, Lily Ann (7 years) and Maxwell (2.5 years).

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with a lunch to follow and burial after lunch in St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery.
