Raymond “Ray” George Hubert, age 84, of Brandon, SD, died on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Monday, December 17, 2018 at St. Lambert Catholic Church in Sioux Falls, SD followed by burial and military honors at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation will be 3:00 pm, Sunday, with his family present from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with a Wake Service at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls, SD at 5:00 pm.

Raymond George Hubert was born January 5, 1934, in Burbank, SD, to George and Odella (Ouellette) Hubert. He received his education in the local area. Raymond joined the United States Navy in 1953 and proudly served aboard the USS Helena until his honorable discharge in 1957.

Raymond while working at John Morrell and Company in Sioux Falls, met and fell in love with Phyllis M. Jurgens. Raymond and Phyllis were united in marriage on October 27, 1954 in Sioux Falls, SD. Raymond was employed for over 35-years with John Morrell and Company in Sioux Falls working mainly on the Loading Dock. Raymond was most proud to be the first in his family to work at John Morrell and even more so in being able to help his brothers find their careers there as well.

In 1960, Raymond fulfilled a dream of his and purchased an acreage outside of Brandon, SD. Raymond and Phyllis made their home on the farm and were blessed with their son, Mark. In addition to working at John Morrell’s Raymond raised cattle, over 1500 Bee Hives and alongside his brother, Leo, hogs. Raymond had the God given ability to fix or make anything. He was a hard worker with a generous spirit to help anyone in need. In his free time, Raymond enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, having his morning coffee with his pal’s at McDonald’s, and above all, spending time with his family. Raymond was a member of St. Lambert Parish in Sioux Falls, and the Sioux Honey Association. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish Raymond’s memory include: his wife, Phyllis Hubert of Brandon, SD; one son, Mark Hubert and his wife, Lori of Elkton, SD; three grandchildren: Justin Hubert of Fargo, ND, Travis Hubert of Sioux Falls, SD, and Toni Goodbird of Brookings, SD; four great-grandchildren: Lizzy Morgan, Isaiah, Asher and Connor Goodbird; two sisters, Beatrice McGuire of Beresford, SD, and Helen Baity and her husband, George, of Chamberlain, SD; two sisters-in-laws: Connie and Jeanette Hubert; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by: his parents, George and Odella Hubert; brothers, Leonard, Leo, and twin brothers, Harold and Gerald Hubert.
