Tracie Lynn Van Briggle
January 4, 1979 - August 24, 2019

Tracie Lynn (Pederson) Van Briggle, 40, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Saturday, August 24th, 2019 at 6:55 p.m. Tracie fought an uphill battle against long term illness and succumbed to a brain injury at Sanford Hospital surrounded by many who loved her.

Tracie’s courage and determination began on the night of her birth. On the way to the hospital, her parents car broke down - Tracie’s middle name comes from the man who rescued them on a treacherously cold night.

Born on January 4th, 1979 to Paula (Kauer) Pederson and Todd Pederson in Gregory, South Dakota, Tracie grew up largely in Spearfish after moving there from Winner when she was eight. She graduated from Spearfish High School in 1997. After high school, Tracie married Chris Van Briggle from Chadron, Nebraska where they lived during their married life. Tracie attended Chadron State College for general education courses. Afterward, Tracie worked in customer service. She brought her positivity and lightheartedness to her working life, and later it was the foundation from which she nurtured her children. Tracie moved to Sioux Falls in the early 2000’s, she later met her co-parent David Larson, became a mother, and lived out the rest of her life. Throughout everything, the church played an important role in Tracie’s journey.
Tracie was well-rounded: She was a person of faith, but she also liked to cuss and share inappropriate memes. She was known for her kindness and upbeat attitude. Tracie always had a smile on her face and was eager to share or laugh or story with those she loved. Tracie’s children, Declan (5), Zoe (13), and Daisy (15), were the greatest joys in her life.

Tracie loved being a mom. She was creative and enjoyed crafting, baking, laughing, being a tickle monster, spending time with her loved ones, and giving her heart in service to others. She deeply valued her church community at the First Presbyterian Church of Sioux Falls and the numerous friendships she forged there. Tracie’s faith was unwavering. Even during the hardest of times, she never gave up hope and fought as hard as she could in order to have as much time with her kids as possible.

Tracie was preceded in death by her grandparents Jack and Marge Pederson and Paul and Lorraine Kauer.

Tracie is survived by her co-parent David Larson, son Declan Larson, daughter Zoe Larson, daughter Daisy Larson, all of Sioux Falls, SD; mother Paula (John Tubbs) Pederson, Rapid City, SD; father Todd Pederson, Spearfish, SD; brother Ryan (Mandi) Pederson, Spearfish, SD; sister Katie (David) Wood, Seattle, WA and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends whom she loved very much.

Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. noon to 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at Miller Funeral Home, 507 South Main Avenue.

A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at First Presbyterian Church, 2300 S. West Avenue. Reception with refreshments, laughs and storytelling with the family will follow at the church before burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, 2001 S. Cliff Ave. The procession to the cemetery will begin at 2:45 p.m.
