Elizabeth D. "Betty" Christensen, 92, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2016 at home in Pipestone, MN. Betty was born on December 31, 1923 at Letcher, SD to Allen Parnell and Isabell (Johnson) Brewick. She received her education at Hopper School in Sanborn County, SD. Betty worked as a secretary in Plankinton, SD and then moved to Sioux Falls where she continued working. Betty married Norman Christensen on July 28, 1946 at Trent, SD and they farmed east of Trent. They moved to Flandreau and Betty worked at the Flandreau Veterinary Clinic for two years. Her husband preceded her in death on March 14, 1995. Betty moved to Pipestone, MN in August 2011. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Flandreau, and enjoyed reading and sewing.


Betty is survived by one son Daryl (Kay), Flandreau; one daughter Janice (Brady) Waugh, Pipestone, MN; four grandchildren, Troy, Eric, Sara and Jennifer and four great-grandchildren, Brandon, Megan, Sierra, and Kane. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Norman, son Allen, parents and one brother Wayne.


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Flandreau, SD, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
