Stella L. Kroshus
February 02, 1923 - July 21, 2015
Stella L. Kroshus, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls. Stella was born February 2, 1923 at Egan, SD to Louis and Alvina (Schrum) Schroeder. She graduated from Egan High School in 1941. Stella was employed as a bookkeeper at Temte’s Department Store in Flandreau until the time of her marriage to Curt Kroshus on August 10, 1947 in Egan, SD. They made their home in Flandreau until moving to Wheaton, MN in 1956. They moved to Ortonville, MN in 1962. Stella worked with the bookkeeping at the Ford-Mercury dealership during those years. They returned to Flandreau in 1975. After the death of her husband on June 26, 1977, she was employed at Riverview Manor for 14 years. She retired in 1991 and continued making her home in Flandreau. Stella was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one daughter Louise (Dan) Mack, Hayti, SD, four granddaughters, Michelle (David) Bartels, Hazel, SD, Amy (Ryan) McKay, Bismarck, ND, Rebecca (David) Biteler, Brookings, Jennifer (Rick) Homola, Lake Norden, SD, 19 great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Tayler, Skylar, Shayde, Evan, Blake, Connor, Ian, Hayden, Elle, William, Curt, Loren, Ethan, Minda, Emma, Arden, Rowan, Marnie, sister-in-law Joyce Schroeder, Flandreau, and special neighbor Mary Grout. Stella was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Eunice Petersen and brother Virtus Schroeder.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Egan. Visitation is from 5:00–7:00 pm Friday with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
