Clarence Van Duyn, died January 4, 2007 at Terrace Manor in Dell Rapids, South Dakota.
Clarence was born October 30, 1916 on the family farm near Colton to parents L.A. and Clara (Swier) Van Duyn. He attended Lawndale Country School and started farming with his father after he had finished his education.
Clarence married Helen R. Meyer on February 15, 1940 at the Meyer family farm near Volga. The couple lived and farmed near Humboldt. They retired in 1984 and moved into Colton. In July of 2005 they moved to Colton Assisted Living and then to Terrace Manor in April of 2006.
Clarence was an active member of the Christian Reformed Church in Colton. He was President of the Colton Christian School Board and Colton Senior Citizens as well as a member of the Colton Cemetery Board. Clarence enjoyed farming and playing softball and enjoyed watching his children when they were involved in sport activities.
Clarence is survived by his wife Helen, Colton; three sons, Loren and his wife Judith, Liberty, Missouri; Keith and his wife Shirley, Bruce, South Dakota; Ivan and his wife Bonnie, Kalamazoo, Michigan; a daughter, Lois and her husband Roger Van Someren, Amery, Wisconsin; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Adolph and his wife Anne, Ripon, California and a sister, Alydia Hoekman, Miller, South Dakota.
Clarence was preceded in death by a brother Cornie; two sisters Nellie and Gertrude.
