James T. Cullen, 62, of Flandreau, died Sunday, June 9, in Flandreau.

He was born June 30, 1928, in Minneapolis. He graduated from Paxton, Neb., High School in 1946. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy from 1946 to 1951. He married Roberta "Suzie" Halsay on Oct. 20, 1952, in Salina, Kan.

After his discharge from the Navy, he worked as a salesman with Sherman-Williams Paint Co. in North Platte, Neb. He continued to work in the paint business and was last employed by Valspar Corp.

Survivors include his wife "Suzie" and mother, Geraldine Schmitz, orth Platte, Neb.; two sons: Michael, Ramona; and John, aboard the U.S.S. Gettysburg; six daughters: Mrs. Troy (Catherine) Smallfield, Colman; Mrs. David (Carolyn) Jewett, Flandreau; Mrs. Stanley (Connie) Stone, Oneonta, N.Y.; Tina Hass, Sacramento, Calif.; Mrs. Timothy (Katie) Bauer and Mrs. Steve (Colleen) Ziebarth, both of Flandreau; Bud Salsbury, Longview, Wash., who was raised by the family; 23 grandchildren; and three sisters: Mrs. John (Patricia) Cox, Annetta Thacker and Peggy Thieler, all of North Platte, Neb.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, with burial at the Flandreau Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Wednesday in Skroch Funeral Home, with scripture at 7 p.m., followed by a Rosary.
