Howard William Steineke, born April 27, 1914, to Willie and Mae Steineke near Crooks, SD, died January 28, 2012.
Howard grew up on the family farm near Hartford, SD. The farm equipped him with an enduring can-do attitude which served him well for nearly a century. He was an avid outdoorsman for most of his long life. Howard married Dorothy Lorene Siders on June 1, 1938. They lived in the Sioux Falls area for 61 years before moving to Canton, SD in 1999.
He is survived by his son, Dale Steineke (Donna), Hot Springs, SD; daughters, Carol Roti (David), Fairview, SD, Jean Ferrin (David), Ft. Collins, CO, Judy Myrabo (Arne), Monticello, MN; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and his sister, Betty Hansen of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; four brothers, Melvin (Bud), Tom, Charlie, Frank; and a granddaughter, Shelly Ferrin.
Visitation will begin at noon, Thursday, with the family present from 5:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening at Miller West, 6200 W. 41st Street. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Friday at Miller West, with interment at Hartford Cemetery
