Dorothy Lorene Steineke, born March 14, 1913 to Harry and Anna Siders near Ireton, Iowa and died April 15, 2007.

Dorothy attended high school in Hartford, SD and graduated from the Madison Normal School for teachers (now Dakota State University). She taught country schools in the Hartford area until she married Howard Steineke in 1938.

After raising her family, she worked for the Minnehaha County Welfare Department for ten years. They lived in the Sioux Falls area for 61 years before moving to Canton, SD in 1999.
She is survived by her husband, Howard; daughter Carol Roti (David) of Fairview, SD; son Dale (Donna) of Crawford, NE; daughter Jean Ferrin (David) of Ft. Collins, CO; daughter Judy Myrabo (Arne) of Monticello, MN, nine grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harold, Lester, Stanley; two sisters Loma Fischer and Lois Neisse and a grand child Shelly Ferrin.

Public visitation begins at 9:00 am Tuesday at Miller West 6200 W. 41st St., with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the same location (Pastor Nate Hansen officiating) with burial to follow at the Hartford Cemetery. Kimberly Lund will perform on the keyboard for the service. Pallbearers will be grandchildren Curt Steineke, Jill Johnson, Kim Lund, Eric Larsgaard, Laurie Papish, Dan Ferrin. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren Karla Richards, Brenda Larsgaard, Jean Fossum, Dawn Kranz and Andrew Larsgaard.
