uneral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Skroch's Funeral Chapel for Selmer (Sank) Bidne, 70, who died Friday [February 17, 1978] at the Flandreau Hospital. The Rev. Richard Nielsen officiated at the service.

Selmer Bidne was born March 21, 1907 at Flandreau to Knute and Susanna Ringham Bidne. He received his education in the Flandreau public school, graduating in the class of 1925. He moved to Port Arthur, Canada, where he worked for two years and then moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he drove a truck and later owned and operated a trucking line out of Detroit. On December 8, 1935 he was married to Mary Bingert at Bowling Green, Ohio and they continue to live and work in Detroit. She died October 7, 1945. In December of 1947 he married Alice Chamley Russie and they continued to live in Detroit until 1951 when he returned to Flandreau where has since made his home. She died November 19, 1973.

He and his brother owned the Bidne Shoe Store for many years. He is survived by four stepdaughters, Mrs. Dorothy Salisbury, Dearborn, Michigan, Mrs. Helen Larson, L'Anse, Michigan, Mrs. Barbara Axelson, Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Jacqueline Mora, Tulsa, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Bidne, Flandreau; and two brothers, Bernell, Albert Lea, Minnesota, and Leonard, Lexington, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, one sister and two brothers. Pall bearers were Lester Christiansen, Everett Keck, George Billam, Lawrence Meeker, Robert Reiter and Barton Rosheim. Interment was in the Flandreau cemetery.
