Reed was born September 22, 1917 to parents Clyde and Faith (Gray) Alexander near Sanborn, Iowa. He moved with his parents to South Dakota when he was a few months old.

He attended school in Sioux Falls. After his education he lived with his brother during the dry years. He then worked for a diary and then at John Morrell and Company. He then did custom trucking for over 40 years and retired from Mobil Oil Company as a transport driver.

Reed married LeMoyne Kelsey September 6, 1941 in Sioux Falls. They lived in Sioux Falls until moving to a farm southwest of Chester in 1970. LeMoyne died August 19, 2000. Reed moved to Dell Rapids in 2002.

Grateful for having shared his life are his sister, Alice Anderson, Chester; six nieces and a nephew; a special friend Johanna Van Heerde, Colton; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a sister Ferne and a half brother, Vernon.

LeMoyne Jean Alexander, 79

LeMoyne Jean Kelsey was born to John and Edna Kelsey on the family dairy farm near Springfield on Aug. 31, 1920. She grew up near Springfield where she attended grade school She moved to Sioux Falls and graduated from Nettleton College. She then worked as a secretary for Armco Steel Company in Sioux Falls until her retirement.

LeMoyne married Reed Alexander on Sept. 6, 1941. They lived in Sioux Falls until moving to a farm southwest of Chester in 1970.

She was a member of the first Reformed Church in Colton and was also a member of the Gray Ladies from Chester that entertained the residents at area nursing homes.

LeMoyne died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, George.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Reed, Colton; and five nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at First Reformed Church in Colton with Rev. Wilmer Ver Meer. Interment was held at Dell Rapids Cemetery.

Casket bearers included Jim DeKrey, Rick Van Heerde, Mark Vande Vooren, Jim Reurink, John Van Liere and Henry Vink.
