Veryl Y. Rudd

Veryl was born on May 20, 1927 to Clayton and Bertha (Rothenbuehler) Rudd in Moody County east of Egan.

Veryl received her early education in Egan and then moved to Redfield for the remainder of her education. After Bertha passed away in 1981, Veryl moved to Brookings where she lived, worked and made many friends for 24 years. During that time she attended First Lutheran Church in Brookings and was active in WELCA.

In 2004, she moved to Greenleaf Assisted Living in Flandreau and in 2005 moved to Riverview Manor.

She loved music, crocheting, embroidery, dancing and attending all activities at Riverview. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she collected and counted the offerings for Sunday school for many years, member of WELCA, the Square Deal Club and was active in all family events and vacations.

Veryl Y. Rudd, 87, of Flandreau, died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Riverview Health Services, Flandreau.

She is survived by two nephews, Rudd (Barbara) Johnson, Medford, OR, Jeff (Ranea) Johnson, Lake Benton, MN; one niece Jarolyn “Jari” Johnson, Flandreau; great nieces and nephew, Virginia Hogan Johnson, Rudd Carrington Johnson, Jennifer (Josh) Veurink, and Bobbie Jo Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Audrey Johnson and parents.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, November 22, 2014, 2:00 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation is 5:00-7:00 pm Friday with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
