Darwin Lee Roskam, 49, of rural Hudson, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the Hawarden Regional Healthcare due to injuries from a motor vehicle accident. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Hawarden Community Church with Rev. Stan Vandersall officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery at Canton, South Dakota following the luncheon. Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday, with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Darwin Lee Roskam was born August 5, 1963 at the Hawarden Community Hospital in Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Harriet (Van Ravenhorst)) Roskam. Darwin grew up outside of Hawarden before moving to rural Hudson with his family in 1973. He graduated in 1982 from the Hudson High School. Darwin worked various jobs throughout his life, anywhere from laying concrete, power washing, farming, bartending, and working at a bowling alley. Darwin loved throwing darts and bowling, taking first place in his class at State Darts this year in Rapid City. He is survived by his son, Derrick Nordman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; parents, Leonard and Harriet Roskam of Hudson, South Dakota; sisters, Beth Banks of Sioux City, Iowa, Ruth (Rick) Miller of Canton, South Dakota, Michelle (Mike) Ingebrigtson of Canton, South Dakota, Laura (Neil) Warner of Larchwood, Iowa and Leah (Jason) Theisen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a brother, Alan Roskam of Glenburn, North Dakota; and several nieces and nephews. Darwin was preceded in death by his brother, Dayrl Roskam; and his grandparents.
