Valerie J. Bittner
(February 23, 1963 - November 28, 2011)
Valerie (VanDam) Bittner, 48, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Dell Rapids, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 28, 2011 in her home. Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday in the funeral home chapel and a Christian Wake Service will be held in the funeral home chapel. The time of the Wake Service is pending.
Valerie Jean VanDam was born on February 23, 1963 in Dell Rapids, SD, the daughter of Bob and Goldie VanDam. She attended St. Mary and Dell Rapids Public School. She married Terry Rave on May 31, 1980 in Dell Rapids. She worked at Litton and Hutchinson Technology. She ran an in home daycare for over 10 years and then worked for the Avera Wellness Center. On Octomber 24, 1992, she married William Bittner in Sioux Falls, SD.
Valerie passed away suddenly on Monday, November 28, 2011 in her home. She was 48 and preceded in death by her brother, Rodney and her parents.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dustin (Amy) of Harrisburg, Naomi (Evan) Olson of Yankton, and Brett of Omaha; her grandchildren, her fourteen siblings, Bobbie (Dick) Christensen of Flandreau, Steve VanDam of Rapid City, Doug (Nedra) VanDam of Faribault, MN, Jeanette (Gene) Arnold of Flandreau, Kathy (Jerry) Benning of Trent, Laurie (Bill) Arbes of Shoreview, MN, Shelly Buhr of Colman, Kristi (Dean) Ellefson of Sioux Falls, Monica VenSend (Dale Vanbewille) of Trent, Marilyn (Rick) Williamson of Dell Rapids, Marsha (David) Schlueter of Trent, Rob (Kristine) VanDam of Colman, Diane Bailey (Todd Olson) of Colman, and Tracy VanDam (John Goldammer) of Trent; and her many nieces and nephews.
