Sue Y. Johnson, 59 years and 20 days, passed away on June 27, 2010 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Sue Yvonne Carlson was born June 7, 1951 to Wilbur and Sarah Carlson in Oakland, CA. In 1955, the family moved from California to a farm near Salem, SD. Sue attended public school, and graduated from Salem High School in 1969. On July 27, 1985, she was united in marriage with Paul Johnson. The couple lived in Sioux Falls where Sue worked at the Argus Leader for many years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Sioux Falls. Sue enjoyed spending time with her step-grandchildren and was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings Fan. She is survived by her brothers, Don (Collette) Carlson of Salem, SD and Allen Carlson of Sioux Falls; her sister-in-law, Joanne Kuusela of Sioux Falls, SD; her nieces, Rachel Carlson and Renae Carlson; her nephews, Patrick Kuusela, Aric Kuusela and Kyle Kuusela; her step-daughters, Paula Grush of Sioux Falls, SD, Cherrie Miles, living in Hawaii and Tina Giddings of Ham Lake, Mn; 8 step grandchildren; and 3 great step grandchildren. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul in 1999; a niece, Bridget Carlson and a step grandchild, Sheena.
