Joan Ardelle (Knowlton) Wilson was born in Lennox, SD, on Apr. 28, 1931, the daughter of Daryl and Ella (Moerke) Knowlton. She attended Lennox Public School and graduated from Lennox High School in 1949. She then attended South Dakota State University in Brookings for two years. On Dec. 26, 1951, she was united in marriage to Dick Wilson in Lennox, where the couple lived their entire married life. Joan was employed as a bookkeeper at her father's store, Daryl's I.G.A., and then at the Lennox and Canton Co-ops for 25 years. She retired from Farmland in 1986. Upon her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed the summer months at their lake home on Leach Lake at Walker, MN. She was preceded in death by her father on Apr. 7, 1985, and her mother on Dec. 12, 1996. Survivors include her husband, Dick; her two children and their spouses; Joel and Donna Wilson of Lakeville, MN, and Dawn and Ronnie Smith of rural Lennox; three grandchildren; sister-in-law Ann Plimpton.
