Arlene Phyllis Jacobs was born at Worthing, SD on Aug. 21, 1920, the daughter of Howard and Blanche (Clay) Jacobs. She grew up in Worthing attending Worthing schools graduating from Worthing High School in 1938. On November 17, 1939 she married Elmer Voges at Rock Rapids, Iowa. The couple made their home in Worthing. Arlene was a secretary for Woodlawn Cemetery for 25 years. After retiring from Woodlawn, she became the cemetery sexton at the Worthing Cemetery for 25 years.
Arlene was a member of West Prairie Lutheran Church. She was a lifelong active member of the Worthing American Legion Auxiliary. She was a devoted homemaker and mother. She enjoyed feeding and watching the wild birds in her yard. Arlene's death ended a marriage union of nearly 68 years. Besides her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by two brothers, Ron Jacobs and Bill Jacobs and one sister, Shirley Kimball.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Elmer, Canton, SD, one son, Jerry Voges of Keystone, SD; four grandchildren: Kimberly Arbeiter, Huron, SD, Shane Voges, Worthing, SD, Stacy McDonald, Tulsa, OK and Justin Voges, Keystone, SD; 11 great-grandchildren; two greatgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Dell Jacobs of Worthing, SD as well as other relatives and a host of friends.
