Margaret M. Dickens Canton - Margaret M. Dickens , 101, died Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Canton Good Samaritan Center. Margaret M. (Jacobs) Dickens was born March 11, 1901 at Atkins, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Berge) Jacobs. She moved with her family to the Beresford area in 1910 and attended school at Lincoln Center. Margaret worked as a telephone operator for many years. She married Tillman Dickens on March 1, 1925. The couple made their home on a farm near Worthing. Following their retirement, they moved to Canton in 1972. Her husband died June 13, 1993. She was a resident of Canton Good Samaritan Center since January of this year. Margaret was an active member of Beaver Rebecca Lodge, Extension Club, and Canton Senior Citizen's Center. She also was an active member of Canton United Methodist Church. Margaret is survived by many nieces and nephews, including- Arlene Voges of Worthing, SD and Lois Appel of Sioux Falls, SD.
