Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sat., Nov. 13, for Mable Mae DeWitt, 100, Worthing, who died Nov. 9, 2004, at the Canton-Inwood Hospital. The Revs. Ed Kaltenbach and Doug Hunt will officiate in the Dindot-Klusmann Chapel at Lennox, and burial will be in Worthing Cemetery at Worthing. Casketbearers will be her son, John DeWitt; and grandchildren Disia Henning, Bernard Zahn Jr., Gary and Scott DeWitt, and Adam Broughton III. Organist will be Delores Bunjer, and soloist will be Marcia Kaltenbach. Mable Hall was born Aug. 9, 1904, in Benton County, Iowa, to Essie (Mathers) and Earl William Hall. She grew up in that area and moved to Roswell at age 10. She attended Roswell Public School. She married Leo H. DeWitt on Oct. 18, 1924, at Howard. They lived in several communities until moving to Worthing in 1941. They farmed north of Worthing for four years until moving into town, where they operated the Worthing Grocery for 25 years until retiring in 1974. Her husband died on Jan. 25, 1981. She entered the Canton Good Samaritan Center in March 1999. Survivors include three sons, Earl "Mike" and Leo, both of Worthing, and John of Chester; two daughters, Rose Zahn and Phillis Broughton, both of Canton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clyde Hall of Boise, Idaho, Samuel Hall of Howard, Theron Hall of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Lloyd Hall of Bryant; and a sister, Thelma Hack of Howard.
