Rodney was born October 27, 1954, in Sioux Falls, SD. to parents Katherine (Foy) and Henry Park, Jr. He grew up in Chester, SD, where he lived most of his life. Rodney graduated from Chester High School in 1973. He married Patricia McDonnell on June 1, 1974 in Dell Rapids.
Rodney was employed at Sioux Valley Electric for 33 years, where he started as grounds keeper, then progressed to tree trimming crew and to Power Line Maintenance. Rodney liked to keep busy; he tried his hand at multiple business ventures, farming, tree trimming, portable rentals, and barbequing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, playing cards, and spending time at his cabin on the river in Chamberlain, SD.
Rodney was a member of St Joseph the Workman parish, Local Electrical Union, and past member of the Chester Fire Department and the Chester Bars Softball team.
Rodney Joseph Park passed away suddenly Thursday, November 30, 2006. He died in a place he loved to be most: a field of geese.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Pat (McDonnell) Park, Chester; sons, Aaron Park, Seattle and Scott Park, Sioux Falls; daughters, Mandy Park, Seattle and Rose Park, Minneapolis; as well as his parents, Katherine (Foy) and Henry Park Jr., Chester; brothers, Randy Park and his wife Pat, Arlington and Tom Park and his wife Janet, Chester; sisters, Lori and her husband Mike Paulson, Sioux Falls and Monica Travers, Sioux Falls. Numerous nieces, nephews, co-workers, friends and extended family will also miss him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Huntimer-St. Joseph The Workman Catholic Church, rural Colton. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements by Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.
