Kenneth E. Hoffman, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006 at the VA Medical Center. Ken Hoffman was born on August 28, 1923 and raised near Tea SD. He attended all grades of school in Tea and received local attention for never missing a day of school. After graduation he joined the Army Air Corp serving in China as a message decoder during WWII.
On July 12, 1962 Ken married Drexel Carter and was employed by Pecaut Equipment Company until moving to the family farm near Tea and forming Hoffman Trucking. After retiring from the trucking business Ken worked part time for the Argus Leader and started a lawn and snow removal business until April of 2003 when spinal injuries forced him to retire. He was preceded in death by his parents Rose and Milo Hoffman.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Drexel Hoffman, Sioux Falls; 5 children, Kay Kirkvold, Sioux Falls, Ed (Kay) Hoffman, Tea, SD, Scott (Lynda) Hoffman, Sioux Falls, Linda (Vern) Booth, Walnut, IA, John Carter, Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and a cousin, Betty Oswald, Wausau, WI and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be Saturday, Nov. 18 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, rural Tea, SD
